From San Leandro, head south on I-580 E to the exit for CA-238 toward Hayward. Keep left as you exit, following the signs for Hayward and continue onto Foothill Blvd. Turn right onto A St. at the corner with Chef's Experience China Bistro, then turn left onto Mission Blvd. in 0.2 miles. Continue 5.4 miles until you reach Chapel of the Chimes Hayward on your left, across from the Mexico Super.

From San Jose, take I-880 N toward Oakland to the exit for Decoto Rd./CA-84 W. Turn right at the end of the exit onto Decoto Rd., then turn left onto Mission Blvd. in three miles when the road ends. You'll find us on your right in one mile, across from the Mexico Super and Kono BBQ & Grill.

Originally inhabited by the Ohlone people, the area around Hayward became part of a Spanish land grant called Rancho San Lorenzo in 1841. A portion of the land was bought by William Dutton Hayward during the California Gold Rush; Hayward built a hotel, after which some historians believe the city is named.

Today, Hayward has a population of 149,392 and is the sixth largest city in the Bay Area. Its downtown area contains a number of historic buildings and landmarks, including the Green Shutter Hotel and the Eden Congregational Church.
